Protein Bars: A Maligned Body Building Nutritional Supplement

Sometimes a product simply does not get the respect that it deserves. Many times, that lack of respect is derived from people who in fact have zero knowledge of that particular subject. Normally, when uninformed people spew misinformation, it is not really all that offensive because one can only take solace in the fact that at least someone knows the real score on a matter. Unfortunately, when the fountains of misinformation generators are such people as newspaper publishers or magazine editors, misinformation can become fact in the minds of many people.

Won't Get Fooled Again

When it comes to the history of the body building nutritional supplement, no product has ever seen such ridicule as the protein bar. However, why there would be a vendetta against a body building nutritional supplement in regards to a protein bar is in fact a bit bewildering. Although, if one looks at the history of food in the USA, one can see why there is misguided skepticism on protein bars and body building nutritional supplement products in general.

History of the World – Processed Food Chapter

In the 1960's and 1970's, the introduction of processed food forever changed the face of the way people ate and it certainly did not change for that of the better. Sometimes, odd products would sweep the nation pretending to be something it really wasn't; the media has not forgotten about this and a modern body building nutritional supplement can thus suffer the consequences undeservedly. For example, protein bars have been compared to the drink Tang and not in a flattering way, and the relation which is set between protein bars and various other – often times disadvantageous – products is one of the primary reasons as to why protein bars in themselves have received such a bad reputation.

Pop Culture, Infinity and Beyond

For those who do not remember it, Tang was sold as a healthy, orange flavored powdered drink and sales skyrocketed because astronauts such as Buzz Aldrin endorsed it; in fact, Tang was on the menu of the rocket that carried astronauts into space. However, Tang was found to be not healthy, as it was a processed sugary drink that had no nutritional value whatsoever. As a result, there is now quite a bit of skepticism about matters such as the body building nutritional supplement products, due to the mentality that many people have now gained on nutritional products.

It is incredibly important to know however, that although there are some protein bars that are high in sugar, these are simply to be avoided and you should thus take a little bit of time and consideration, read the labels on the packaging, and opt to go for the bars that have less sugar, as these are an excellent snack and a great body building nutritional supplement that provide the body with the highly important supplement of protein.
